Global Aviation Technologies in cooperation with Concorde Battery is upgrading the Learjet 40/45 Emergency Battery with a higher capacity, internally heated battery. The enhanced Concorde Battery, RG-145-2 maintains the current philosophy of a valve-regulated lead acid design, but incorporates an internally mounted and regulated heater. This enables complete charging of the battery during all altitudes and weather conditions.
The RG-145-2 features increased capacity designed to meet all upcoming FAA and EASA guidelines regarding emergency operations. The increased capacity will also support future instrumentation upgrades as well as other owner installed electrical upgrades.
As an added benefit to the aircraft operator and maintenance personal, the upgraded battery installation is rotated 180 degrees making the battery quick disconnect accessible through the oxygen maintenance access door.
This upgrade reduces maintenance time and complexity, as well as increase safety and operational envelope of the emergency electrical system.
the RG-145-2 battery will be TSO approved and offered as part of PMA approved kit supplying the required brackets and wiring harness for a seamless installation. The project is on schedule and FAA Certification is anticipated October 2010. Contact Global Aviation Technologies for further information about this project or to obtain program status.
